I feel most connected to the Russell neighborhood through the Sports and Learning Center. I have seen so many community members use this space for everything from track meets to a family dinner after a funeral. When I see senior citizens walking in the morning or young people playing soccer and football — that lifts my spirit. When the people working in red shirts — who, more often than not, live in the community — stop city officials to ask them to fix potholes or talk about other issues, it reminds me that this is an empowerment space.”

Nothing better than baseball in the summertime. I’m a Cincinnati Reds hoper but prefer the ballpark experience of a Louisville Bats game right here at home. I like the second deck, above first or third, depending on the sunshine and shade. And mark me down for three hot dogs on discount days. I generally glop on a little ketchup and relish, and always bring my own packets of Gulden’s mustard.
