Quibbles and Questions

Members of the voting academy on what we got wrong in this year’s Best of Louisville.

“The categories left out some of the very best, so I was forced to choose from your limited lists.”

“Would love to see an expanded version of this that includes even more favorites, instead of the competitive approach to name a ‘best.’ Allow voters to lift up even more great Louisville spots!”

“Guess my favorite ice cream store, Comfy Cow, didn’t make the cut this year.”

“Ooh, so hard to pick in some categories. Panchito’s or Dairy Kastle? It’s like Sophie’s choice for ice cream.”

“Why was Graeter’s omitted from Best Ice Cream?  They’re by far the best in the city!” [We tried to keep the awards as Louisville as we could. But yes, as a Cincy native, I too love Graeter’s. — Josh]

“What about Southern Indiana?” [To our neighbors across the river: After a six-year Best of Louisville hiatus, we focused on Louisville this time around. We know we need to do better re Southern Indiana going forward. — Josh]

“Wow. Can’t believe Hotel Distil (Best Hotel) and Repeal steakhouse (Best Hotel Restaurant) aren’t on here.”

“Steak and Bourbon downtown should have been on the list for Best New Restaurants.”

“The Lincoln sculpture at Waterfront Park belongs in the Local Landmark category.”

“Where is Day’s Coffee?”

“No Butchertown Bakery in the Best Bakery category is an oversight!”

“Wheated has the best pizza in town right now.”

“DiOrio’s needs to be in the running for pizza.”

“My favorite pizza is Parlour, which wasn’t listed.”

“Where’s Impellizzeri’s Pizza?”

“The Twin Spires are great. Too bad CD ruined them by building monstrosities that diminish them.”

“Noble Funk is the actual Best Brewery.”

“For live classical music — the Library at Oxmoor Farm and Comstock Hall at the U of L School of Music. Continuing along that line, I listen to 90.5 WUOL Classical FM.”

“Bardstown Bourbon Co. on Main Street is amazing.”

“Selecting from the Best OG Restaurants was really hard!”

“Why isn’t Ramsi’s on the list of restaurants open for more than 20 years?”

“The Fox Den should be included in the Best New Bars category. They have billiards and LIVE MUSIC!”

“Best OG Bar — and oldest! — is Seidenfaden’s.”

“Where is Butchertown Bakery, Joe’s Older Than Dirt, Air Devils Inn, Patrick’s?”

“Just: You blew it.”
